Description

The project established a fully functional biotechnology laboratory at Bukura Agricultural College to support student training, farmer capacity-building, and production of clean planting materials, particularly tissue culture bananas. It has emerged as a regional model for integrating research, teaching, and community outreach in plant biotechnology. Key stakeholders include students, extension officers, and smallholder farmers, especially in Kakamega and Vihiga counties. A three-month academic short course on tissue culture banana production has also been introduced.
